she's green wisteria

i'm almost certain she's green will be my favourite band till i'm old n grey.

you could argue that they're found in the same hole a ton of modern shoegaze and/or dream-pop bands fall into -- creating music that's an unmemorable mix of distorted instruments... but not too much on she's green, ok. i love them to bits. i'm looking forward to see how they experiment with their music in the future!

i still think wisteria is their magnum opus. as much as i love their newest release, swallowtail, this ep has me in a white-knuckle grip.

mirrors and mandy are my favourite tracks by a longshot. their sound is super atmospheric and dreamy, which i think is showcased the strongest in these songs. mirrors is melancholic in tone, but zofia smith's vocals are lulling. the contrast is bittersweet, reminiscent of a heavy heart.

since wisteria's release in '23, i've come back to it again and again. it's something i purposefully return to. there's a familiarity i've subconsciously attached to it over the years, and i'm yet to grow tired of it.

this attachment is why i struggle to review their music at an objective standpoint... (" – ⌓ –)=3 biased n proud.

carissa's wierd songs about leaving

i wouldn't be surprised if this album has a kill count!

listened to it on a whim when i couldn't get myself to fall asleep -- terrible way to start the month. it's strangely beautiful in its misery and encapsulates my mental trudge through autumn and winter to a tee.

the caretaker everywhere at the end of time

when i was around 13, i heard libet's delay while playing a "weird-core" liminal roblox game with an online friend. curiosity led us to go on a deep-dive until we found the source: the caretaker. quite an unconventional way of being introduced to an artist, but it was the earliest root of my appreciation for ambient music. memory unlocked, indeed!

i doubt i'll listen to this compilation again (it's 6+ hours long) but as an art project, it's interesting. the progressive distortion isn't comforting in the slightest.

and yes, revisiting the caretaker is how i realised all that follows is true was the same song that played in the backrooms movie mind-kabloooown..!
